The Grand Event

All seven ships of the current P&O Cruises fleet have assembled in Southampton to commemorate the shipping company’s 175th anniversary. It was the first time that Adonia, Arcadia, Aurora, Azura, Oceana, Oriana and Ventura have all been together at their homeport at the same time.

The ships sailed out of port in single file shortly before 1830 local time and formed into two columns in the Solent where they were reviewed by the Princess Royal from the Trinity House Vessel Patricia. Once again a planned flypast by the Red Arrows was cancelled due to the dismal weather. The wet conditions did not prevent thousands of spectators from  witnessing the so-called Grand Event from vantage points afloat and on both sides of Southampton Water and the Isle of Wight.

  • Given the fact the weather was downright atrocious, I think you did really well with these pics!

I also think you owe Patsy a meal if you dragged her along as well!
