MV Queen Elizabeth 2

It’s been more than four years since MV Queen Elizabeth 2 (1969/70,327 gt) sadly departed the Cunard fleet. ‘The most famous ocean liner in the world’ has remained idle at Port Rashid after plans to convert her into a luxury hotel by her Dubai owners disintegrated in the global economic downturn.

After fears that she could be scrapped the Oceanic Group has unveiled plans to transform the QE2 into a floating five-star hotel and destination tourist attraction in Asia. The ship has now been moved into dry-dock at Dubai for extensive renovation work to begin. On the face of it the outcome seems positive for the ship’s future, however the deal has been done so mysteriously that seeing is believing…
