The second of a series of ten APL-owned 13,900 TEU container ships has arrived at Southampton following delivery in March. MOL Quest (2013/151,200 gt) is one of five chartered out to Japanese Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, one of APL’s partner carriers in the New World Alliance and G6-super alliance.
The ships have been designed to operate at moderate service speeds for low fuel consumption. They are the first jumbo twin-isle ships designed with a fully enclosed bridge and the vessels’ deck houses are built with flush outside bulkheads in order to help combat pirate attacks.
