MV CMA CGM Alexander von Humboldt

CMA CGM Alexander von Humboldt (2013/153,022 gt) became the fifth brand new container ship to make a maiden call at Southampton during May, slipping into port just before dark. Named after great explorers, the 16,000 TEU vessel takes her name from the German regarded as the father of modern geography.

CMA CGM Alexander von Humboldt is the second of a series of three ships. Like the first of class, CMA CGM Marco Polo, she is British-flagged. The delivery of the third vessel of the series, the CMA CGM Jules Verne, which will sail under the French flag, is expected at Southampton on 10 June.
