Good vibrations!

MV Spirit of France, the second of two new P&O Ferries for the Dover – Calais route has arrived on the English Channel. The EUR180 million ship entered Dover for the first time on 28 January following a four-day delivery voyage from the STX Europe shipyard in Rauma, Finland.

Together with MV Spirit of Britain, at 47,592 gt the new ships are the largest ever built for the Dover Strait crossing. Each ship has capacity for 2,000 passengers and is capable of carrying 160 articulated lorries, twice the freight capacity of the vessels they are replacing. In addition they can also carry up to 250 cars, caravans and motorhomes on a separate vehicle deck.

MV Spirit of France is scheduled to enter service on 9 February.
