Exit the Dragon

HMS Dragon has sailed for her maiden deployment, to conduct maritime security and counter piracy operations in the Middle East region. Dragon is the fourth of the Royal Navy’s six new Type 45 destroyers.

Later the same day, HMS Duncan, the last of the class, departed BAE Systems shipyard on the Clyde for the final time, thus completing construction of the project. Meanwhile ship number five, HMS Defender, is due to be commissioned on 21 March.
